WA Premier reviews Orbital UAV’s unique aerospace capabilities

As the WA Government continues to promote and support the State’s defence industry capability, the Orbital UAV team was delighted to welcome Premier the Hon Mark McGowan to its Balcatta facility in September.

The Premier was joined by Member for Balcatta, David Michael MLA, with the visit providing a fantastic opportunity to showcase Orbital UAV’s existing engine production lines, discuss the multiple engine development programs the Company is progressing and to outline the growth opportunities within the global tactical UAV market that the Company is chasing down.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Premier and David to our operations,” said Todd Alder, CEO and Managing Director of Orbital UAV. “With our unique technology and capabilities within the uncrewed aerospace domain, the entire team was incredibly proud to demonstrate how Orbital UAV is contributing to WA’s growing defence industry capability at this critical time.”

The visit came a fortnight after the Premier opened the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference at Optus Stadium – a two-day event discussing defence policy and focusing on the emerging security relevance of the Indian Ocean. Topics included the potential impact of the AUKUS agreement, cyber security, the importance of technology and innovation advancement, and growing sovereign capability and the defence industry.

Orbital UAV is working with multiple global defence Primes, utilising its unique capabilities to supply industry leading propulsion solutions and products into the tactical uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) market. Via Boeing subsidiary Insitu Pacific, the Company is now delivering the engine solution into the Integrator platform, selected by the Australian Army for its tactical UAS requirements.

“It was pleasing to be able to demonstrate to the Premier the industry leading capability we bring to our field and how it is now directly benefitting the Australian Defence Force,” said Mr Alder.
