Orbital UAV on winning bid for Australian Army’s Tactical UAV program

The Australian Department of Defence has confirmed Orbital UAV customer Insitu Pacific Pty Ltd as the preferred supplier of the LAND129 Phase 3 Program – supplying Army’s next generation of tactical uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS).

The Boeing subsidiary will supply its signature ‘Integrator’ UAS, which will be powered by engines manufactured by Orbital UAV at its Balcatta operations in Western Australia.

Announcing the acquisition and initial contract, Minister for Defence, the Hon Peter Dutton MP, said: “This project will enhance the Australian Army’s capabilities by harnessing the innovation and cutting-edge technologies being developed right here in Australia.”

The Integrator platform will provide Army with enhanced abilities to gather intelligence, undertake reconnaissance and surveillance missions, and acquire targets for weapons systems across the Australian Defence Force.

Under the contract, production of the Integrator platforms is scheduled to begin in early 2022 with delivery expected through 2023 and 2024.

Discussing Insitu Pacific’s local supply chain supporting the program’s delivery, Managing Director of Insitu Pacific, Andrew Duggan, said: “Our suppliers bring home-grown, Australian innovation and ingenuity to the program.

“The delivery of the Integrator system to Army will be underpinned by our shared commitment to further develop sovereign capability and supports the growth of businesses directly on our team, as well as their respective ecosystems of Australian suppliers,” Duggan said.
